Oooo, I just noticed I can embed videos on this blog. Good to know!
Ha! Ok....onward with my first entry. I've had this blog set up prior to even starting school back up again. I'm not entirely sure why it's taken me so long to write in it. More or less, I wasn't sure what people would be interested in reading, since I am making this a public blog. I'll figure that out, I suppose, as I push forward and write more.
Today I had my first Portfolio Review with the college. I wasn't sure what to expect, or what all she wanted to see, so I decided I better lug my professional portfolio I'd put together for interviews. Unfortunately, I only remembered just this morning that I needed to take it today, so I didn't have it up to date with work from my job with the travel agency. So my quick fix for that was to shove the folder that held a handful of my flyers inside my portfolio, haha!
Although I've had many complaints since I'd started this college, even before I started (don't worry, I won't get into it again, lol)....this review made me feel more confident with my decision to continue my education. Not that I wasn't confident before, but the negative experiences I've had, have been a bit of a downer. Anyway. Yeah. Back to what I was saying. My professional portfolio included works I'd put together while at the Community College, and the additional folder from the old job. Based upon looking at those items, and what I'd put together so far at the college, she concluded that I've improved quite a bit. I see it too, and that made me feel pretty gosh darned good! I'm learning things that I honestly do not recall learning at the C.C. Or it's just been so long, that the stuff was pushed to the back of my mind...only to be forgotten completely, which is a very strong possibility, lol. But she also told me that my challenge is going to be to push myself and expand upon my style of designing. I'm kind of looking forward to trying, hehe.
Hmm, I'm not sure what else to write on. I'll wind it down. My 3rd Quarter begins Monday. My classes include: Personal Branding (a job skills course), Animated Multi-Media Design (will be learning ActionScript for Adobe Flash), Graphic Design 3 (some sort of product/packaging design course), E-Portfolio. And I just got an email from the Career Center lady again, asking us to start talking with her again about setting up an internship somewhere for the 2nd half of the Summer. So I'll need to get going on that again. I'm open to suggestions, if anybody has any or knows anybody. I gave her suggestions, but she's asking again....so obviously she didn't keep them, lol.
Oh! And once I make the minor touch-ups on my Final Flash Animation project, I'll upload it to You Tube and I'll use it as a blog update.
Until Next Time!
